BISMARCK, N.D. - North Dakota regulators say they're leery of a wind developer's request to locate six turbines less than a quarter-mile from people's homes.

The Just Wind company wants to build 160 turbines in rural Logan County, near Napoleon. North Dakota's Public Service Commission has approved a site plan, but the commissioners haven't agreed on six turbine locations.

Just Wind wants a chance to present more information, and the commissioners have agreed to hold a public hearing in Napoleon on Jan. 26.

The commissioners say they have an informal rule against putting a wind turbine less than 1,400 feet away from someone's home. A Logan County ordinance allows a 750-foot setback.
