Energy firm dismissed from Blair County wind-farm lawsuit

Blair County Judge Daniel Milliron on Friday dismissed the counts against Gamesa, which made and installed the turbines, but left intact the lawsuit against Allegheny Ridge because he believes the complaints deal with operational problems. Allegheny Ridge operates the wind farm.

A judge has dismissed Gamesa Energy from a civil lawsuit filed by an Altoona-area couple who claim "whooshing" and "screeching" turbines at a wind farm keep them awake at night.

Todd and Jill Stull filed the lawsuit against Gamesa and its subsidiary, Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm LLC.

Blair County Judge Daniel Milliron on Friday dismissed the counts against Gamesa, which made and installed the turbines, but left intact the lawsuit against Allegheny Ridge because he believes the complaints deal with operational problems. Allegheny Ridge operates the wind farm.

The Stulls argue the companies knew the 2,000-foot required setback from private property would not protect residents from the turbines' noise and vibrations.
