In Swansea we have the threat of possibly a massive, useless wind farm being built on Mynydd y Gwair Mountain which will visually pollute this area of outstanding natural beauty from the Gower to Brecon Beacons, Powys and Cardigan Bay, in other words, about a quarter of Wales. Why? Because the Welsh Assembly Government wants to build wind farms to provide intermittent, stuttering electricity supplies which we do not need. How daft and subservient can we Welsh get!

As an independent professional consulting electrical engineer with 27 years' experience in the electricity supply industry, I fully concur with Mr Lyn Jenkins' letter (September 30) regarding the stupidity of wind power and the almost unbelievable attitude of some of our Assembly Members toward electricity supplies in Wales.
I believe that his accurate summary of the Welsh electricity power sources underlines the deviousness of our Welsh AMs and MPs in that they are banking that the inadequacies and failings of wind power will be masked by our Welsh electricity over-generation in order to supply England.
In short, the Heath Robinson system of supplying electricity by wind turbines is as big a confidence trick as the South Sea Bubble.

The only reason why wind power is viable is because we pay for the Renewable Obligation Certificates gifted to the owners by us through our electricity bills.
This is a spectacular rip-off on us, the public, by our politicians, especially when we note the rocketing fuel prices.
