Turbine claim denied

WIND farm chiefs have denied claims that turbines would have an adverse affect on neighbouring house prices. In last week's Courier Laxton resident Robert Tyrall said that the area around the proposed Sixpenny Wood Wind Farm at Balkholme had already seen a property price drop of 30 per cent.

But Matt Kelly, Your Energy's development manager for the project, said: "There is no evidence in the UK that wind farms have long term effects on house prices.

"A recent RICS survey shows that some uncertainty can be experienced initially but that within two years of the wind farm becoming operational house prices recover.

"Experiences from around the country shows us that wind farms are generally welcome neighbours once they become operational."

Mr. Kelly also urged people to register their support and views on www.sixpennywoodwindfarm.com.

Last week's Gilberdyke Parish Council meeting saw about 35 residents attend to hear a persentation by Mr Kelly on the scheme.

Chairman Paul Robinson opened the meeting for discussion for half an hour before allowing a 15 minute question time.
