National Wind Watch, Inc., an organization based in Rowe, Mass., dedicated to providing the facts about wind energy, welcomed President Bush's state-of-the-union call to become less reliant on foreign oil for America's energy needs. The organization agrees advances in technology are essential, but warns further appropriations for wind energy would be a distraction from Bush's defined energy objectives.

Many miles of unspoiled Welsh countryside were disfigured to create the largest industrial site in Britain, all to 'save' annually less than a quarter of the CO2 emissions from a single jumbo jet. It is now one year since the 39 turbines were erected. During the seven months March to September 2005, the average output from Cefn Croes was 24% (of installed capacity of 58.5 megawatts) or 14 megawatts. Monthly outputs ranged from a high of 30% in May to a low of 14% in August. Above are before (2000) and after (2004) photos of Cefn Croes.
