Depending upon how many of these towers are erected, this could look like an appendix scar on the side of the mountain.

Please count me among those that vehemently oppose the expansion of this crazed idea of environmentally 'friendly' energy production. Windmills are NOT environmentally friendly when implemented whis way. Please feel free to use my as an example of someone who is DIRECTLY adversely effected by these noisy, UGLY industrial generators.

It is true that alternative energy sources such as wind power have a limited role to play in meeting Britain’s energy needs. But they will only ever have a small role, and if the cost is scarring the increasingly threatened landscape, they should be rejected and other green and more efficient forms, including nuclear power, should prevail.
On Feb. 24, the citizens of Londonderry voted overwhelming 425-213 against support of industrial-scale wind on Glebe Mountain.....The town has spoken. We hope the state will listen.
Massachusetts has an ambitious goal for renewable-energy development but no realistic plan or guidelines to reach it. The result is a free-for-all with the state lavishing money on wind-power development in the Berkshires, investors and other states benefiting from the largess, and Berkshire towns and residents left in the dark as to the real consequences for our community, our economy, and our beautiful mountains.

How is the legal and moral requirement for the protection of our wildlife, in this instance Brolgas, reconciled with the certainty that they will be displaced and or killed by the turbines of this wind farm? Editor's Note:This letter has appeared in several Australian newspapers.
Cost-benefit Analysis for the two windplants targeting Garrett County

However, because of the intermittent, unpredictable nature of wind, no homes would be powered by the wind industry. Given this limitation and the fact that industrial electricity must be consumed immediately, wind can generate only energy – not capacity – to the electricity grid.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Brolga, and many other birds, are at a great risk and would be killed by the Macarthur wind farm if it were to go ahead. Its time to give our native companions a fair go.Editor's Note: This letter has appeared in several Australian papers.
It is unreasonable to expect wind energy to make a meaningful contribution to reducing CO2 emissions, given wind’s unreliability and the consequent need to meet increasing power needs with reliable capacity. We would be better served by focusing on clean coal. The technology exists to clean coal today and that would make a meaningful difference. The proliferation of wind turbines will not.
Some of us used to think wind development might create useful electricity. But we took time the last three years to learn about how industrial wind really works. We studied Catamount’s “educational material,” we studied the impact of industrial wind development in others countries, and we studied the independent analysis of scientists and economists who show that the benefits of industrial wind are an illusion.

Climate of Uncertainty - Why global warming is back in the headlines

These developments suggest that however more convincing the scientific case for serious global warming may become, most world leaders are recognizing that near-term emissions reductions aren't a sensible way to begin moving to a post-carbon energy future.
Could it be that the confused senator's judgment is clouded by his personal relationship with certain landowners in Lowell who stand to make huge profits at our expense?
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has determined that the development of a wind farm on this land is not consistent with the intent of the grant program that was used to purchase it.

Wind power as the alternative source of power generation seems to be breaking through as everybody's darling.
General Electric is investing heavily in it. President Bush, having lately discovered that America is addicted to oil, is supporting the admittedly clean energy that comes from wind turbines, and the environmental community loves windmills.
Are we perhaps getting too far ahead of ourselves by uncritically embracing wind turbines?
By excluding from council business any councillor who can be considered to have a "prejudicial interest", the code is now being widely used to silence councillors who wish to speak on behalf of the communities they represent.
But it is just not the right idea at the right time...those mountains are just way too important to too many of us for many, many reasons. In another place and time, maybe. But not now and not anytime soon.
Without sizeable government subsidies, wind power to generate electricity on any meaningful scale is a loser.

After a tremendous amount of time spent in a collaborative and meetings regarding wind towers, our town's Planning Commission is unanimous in its support of the town plan. The commission is unconvinced that there are benefits of industrial wind power development on this mountain that supplant the principled planning contained in our current and past town plans and zoning ordinances, all of which were based on an historical interest in the preservation of the Glebe Mountain ridgeline.

In that survey, twice as many people said they would find them unacceptable or ugly. That's 2 to 1 against among those who actually had an opinion.
