Tragic green tokenism
With reference to your claims of a "second green energy revolution" (20 February), the Achilles heel of wind power is its intermittency, and wave power is exactly the same; in fact, it has a worse load factor than wind power and could never be relied on to provide consistent amounts of electricity.
Wind and wave power will never be anything more than green tokenism of the worst kind. The tragedy is that the public have been frightened into believing it is the answer to climate change and security of supply, when, in fact, it will contribute to neither.
Scotland's scenery is being trashed by giant wind farms because the Scottish Executive is chasing targets which are completely unachievable.
