It is too bad that big business intends to block all attempts to postpone construction of more wind turbine projects in West Virginia. Citizens up and down the targeted counties along the Allegheny Front have been urging their representatives to slow down the rush to giant wind turbines until more study has been done.
At the national level there is speculation that large arrays of steel turbine towers with twirling blades exceeding the wingspan of a 747 jumbo jet can apparently confuse FAA and military defense radar systems designed to protect our airways. Recently many turbine projects have been put on hold by the FAA until they can be sure the safety of our airways will not be compromised.
Gov. Manchin is only being prudent by suggesting that West Virginia turbine projects also wait until the national studies are completed. Isn’t it better to be safe than sorry? I honestly believe the governor should pass an executive order halting the building of more giant wind turbines in West Virginia until we can all get our bearings.
It would be tragic if any planes crashed and lives were lost simply because our representatives failed to keep them in check.
