Unanswered questions about Edsall letter
It should be noted that two other Planning Board members have wind conflicts, and the lack of a specific wind law would be of great advantage to wind leaseholders like Mr. Edsall and the wind developers. With no wind law, this would bring the control of wind development almost entirely under the control of Mr. Edsall and his conflicted board allowing wide latitude for turbine placement.

Cape Vincent resident John Byrne wrote a letter in this paper challenging the questionable ethical actions of Richard Edsall, the Cape Vincent Planning Board Chairman. Mr. Byrne points out that Mr. Edsall and his family have numerous lucrative wind contracts.
Mr. Edsall's Planning Board is also the lead agency controlling the critical state environmental studies for both Cape wind projects. These studies can literally make or break these projects where the 1000 Islands, and hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake. Mr. Edsall sits at the very heartbeat of the entire wind issue in Cape Vincent.
