Most recently the province of Ontario had to face these concerns. New standards governing wind turbines were established in June 2009: set back of 1.5 km for projects with more than 26 wind turbines. Other standards relates to noise level.
If you happen to check Prowind Canada Inc. website in December 2008, New Denmark project was published as 60 -MW (30 turbines). As of September 2009 it was 80 -MW (40 turbines).
In New Brunswick some wind turbines companies (EIA) are required to built nests to help with negative impact on birds' habitat (Lameque), others to stay away from one eagle's nest (Grand Manan). What of a person habitat: his home and community?
We urge our government officials to govern for the well-being and the quality of life of New Brunswickers, to be pro-active, to establish appropriate set-back and guidelines for industrial wind turbines projects.
Who likes to hear: you were aware of it. Followed by: now fix it!
Let's keep the province of New Brunswick "Magnifique" not only for the tourists, but for us, citizens. Let's keep New Brunswick communities "Magnifique"!
