Back then the PSC issued a permit to Synergics that reduced the number of turbines requested. The wealthy, politically well connected Wayne Rogers, who owns the company, wasn't satisfied with the PSC decision to downsize his proposal based on the probable impacts on endangered species.
Thanks to the work of Wayne Rogers, Cas Taylor, and Senate President Mike Miller, the PSC was all but written out of the permitting process. So now the PSC is holding yet another meaningless hearing on a resubmitted Synergics wind proposal. Without any roadblocks based on environmental review, or consideration of the health or welfare of Garrett County citizens by either a PSC-contested case hearing, or Garrett County regulations, the skids are greased for Synergics to get what they wanted in the first place.
Unless Garrett County citizens stand up to the big wind industry bullies and their falsehoods about the real costs and pitiful benefits of their humongous turbines, Garrett County will become the victim of yet another exploitive industry that will destroy its rich natural heritage, aesthetic beauty, health, and welfare.
