There is an awfully big push these days to have farms turned into wind factories, to take agricultural land and turn it into an industrial wind turbine complex, complete with all the infrastructure of access roads, poles and wires. This is NOT farming. This is not even remotely similar to farming even though many still like to call a gaggle of 400-foot wind turbines a wind 'farm'.
They are nothing more than an industrial use of agricultural landscape.
At first glance, wind power looks like the answer to all of our problems. We are told it will give us a ton of jobs, it will clean the air, it will substitute fossil fuels, that it is harmless and good. It's not hard to see why we want to fall in love with the idea of all of that.
That fairytale is what keeps wind companies from disappearing altogether. They wouldn't survive otherwise. Well that and all the taxpayer money from subsidies, tax breaks and guaranteed payouts for 20 years definitely helps too.
But look a little closer folks. Look beyond the propaganda of wind companies.
Find out that there are people, including some very surprised turbine hosts, suffering terribly because of noise and low frequency vibration wind turbines are notorious for.
Find out there are people suffering from electrical pollution from shoddy connections and above ground lines from turbines.
Find out that turbines only put out a fraction of the power the wind company claims they have the 'capacity' to generate.
Find out that bats and birds are being maimed and killed by these unnatural and behemoth wind factories. Dig into the information and get educated before you have one or more of these monstrosities sitting a few hundred meters from you.
What you find out when you visit a REAL farm is that cow flaps don't stink until you dig into them.
