Wind turbines threaten church services
Many other members of the church feel the same as I do. When we spoke to the council members, they stated that our insurance would not cover this damage and wondered whom you approach to pay for it.

I am a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ridgeville.
I have discovered through public disclosure the proposed location of the Shirley and Ray Horns wind turbine next to our church. The Horns’ turbine will cause shadow and flicker effect, disrupting our service. Research shows that ice freezing on the blades is thrown 1,800 feet at 170 miles per hour with shorter turbines. The location of this turbine and its greater height, I believe, would have it smashing ice into the stained glass windows and onto the roof.

I know that during the construction phase of wind turbines up North, they pounded 28 feet into the bedrock for 205 feet high wind turbines. As the Horns’ turbine will be taller, they will certainly go deeper into the bedrock. I believe this will cause structural damage to the church.

The statement was made by one of the council that we cannot say, “What if?” What if? will eventually happen.
If you feel as I do and do not want a wind farm in Monroe County, write to: Attn. County Clerk, 202 South K St., Rm. 1, Sparta, WI 54656.
A public hearing on the wind farm ordinance will be held Monday, Feb. 20, 8:30 a.m., Sparta Courthouse Annex. You need to attend and be heard.
