We are told this wind farm of 22 turbines will produce 66 megawatts and serve the requirements of a third of North Devon. Absolute hogwash.
There are serious questions which require truthful answers: what is the actual wind speed which will produce this optimum 66MW; and how frequently will this speed occur at Fullabrook Down?
Wind farms at the best of times are only about 30 per cent efficient. If there is no wind, this 66MW will be precisely nothing.
If it was practical to use wind to generate electricity, it would have been done many years ago. The only reliable natural energy which could be transformed into electricity is tides, but to pollute the countryside with an unreliable system is not right.
