Select Board Chairman Charles Murphy Sr. said last week he will move to shut the turbines down at night at a meeting Monday, June 10, with the Board of Health. ...Mr. Murphy said there is language on the contract that would allow the town to shut the turbines down if they have an adverse impact on town residents.

Wind farm opponents are applauding action taken Thursday by Tom Green, chairman of the city-county plan commission.
On behalf of the commission's wind farm committee, Green urged county officials to study the impact of existing Indiana wind farms for at least two years before deciding how to regulate them in Delaware County.

Jim Alders, Xcel's director of regulatory affairs, said Thursday that New Era has "failed to meet the requirements" of the 2010 contract, which required PUC approval. Attempts since December to cure the defaults have failed, prompting the recent action.
E.ON Climate &Renewables this week canceled an appearance before the council, from which it was scheduled to ask for property tax abatement for a wind farm.
The reason?
"In my opinion, they pulled the request off the table ...in my opinion, trust me, the council will most likely turn it down, most likely unanimously."

Municipalities will be given a much bigger say in where - or if - renewable energy projects are located, says Ontario energy minister Bob Chiarelli.
And Chiarelli said Ontario will abide by a World Trade Organization ruling that the province's made-in-Ontario requirements for renewable energy projects violate trade rules.

The attorney for opponents of the proposed Prairie Breeze Wind Farm believe juwi Wind missed the deadline to modify setback requirements for the project.
The Tipton County Board of Zoning Appeals on March 21 approved a conditional use permit for the proposed wind farm in Liberty and Jefferson townships ...The company submitted modifications to the BZA conditions May 23.
He said he also experienced feeling some vibration from the turbine as he slept on the ground.
Mr Parnell said that at one stage the wind was blowing from due north, and with 'at least 20 wind turbines upwind' of him, he believed he had experienced a 'full dose' of the effects.
He pitched his tent between the turbine array and the township of Waterloo.

Jim Alders, Xcel's directory of regulatory affairs, said Wednesday that Xcel had been committed to the agreement but informed New Era in December that it needed to resolve outstanding issues with the project by early May.
"We gave them [New Era] until now to cure those problems and they have not," he said. "We finally reached the point where the contract gives us the right to terminate."
The quality concerns have emerged just after a surge in solar construction. In the United States, the Solar Energy Industries Association said that solar panel generating capacity exploded from 83 megawatts in 2003 to 7,266 megawatts in 2012. "We need to face up to the fact that corners are being cut," said Conrad Burke, general manager for DuPont's billion-dollar photovoltaic division, which supplies materials to solar manufacturers.
After the turbine was constructed and officially ready to test, it saw several months of delays because of multiple problems cropping up. ...Diniak said part of the problem is that when something goes wrong, it is often a problem that can only be fixed by going up to the top of the turbine.

Opponents who live near the proposed project said immediately after the meeting they will ask the siting board to review its decision. If the board reaffirms its decision, the case could be appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court.
The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) approved a certificate Tuesday allowing for the construction of more than 50 wind turbines in eastern Champaign County as part of the second phase of the Buckeye Wind farm.
