Richard Crawford, the party leader, said the party would fight for a moratorium on wind farms, pending an independent commission on renewable energy. ...over 40% of households are struggling to pay their energy bills. We want to stop the destructive energy policy that is ruining Scotland and will destroy tourism."
An F-15E Strike Eagle drops through the sky on a low-level training mission and encounters - a wind turbine.
With turbine blades reaching within 8 feet of F-15s on missions out of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, the proposed Pantego Wind Energy project resulted in a serious risk.
Rejected North Thoresby wind turbines plan was 'wrong technology in the wrong place'

Three more wind turbines between Tetney and North Thoresby would destroy the beauty of the view of the Lincolnshire coast, planners agreed.
Planners overwhelmingly rejected plans by Partnership for Renewables (Louth Canal) Limited for three turbines, measuring more than 110 metres high, at Fen Lane, North Thoresby, to protect the rural landscape.
Senators took a bill that called for a three-year moratorium on large-scale wind developments, pared it down to legislation that would have required large energy generation projects to conform to Act 250 land-use criteria, and then stripped it to $75,000 worth of studies for the House to consider.

“The project proposed by Deepwater Wind is extremely complicated and the short-term and/or long-term impact of that project on the town of Narragansett is unclear,” Mannix said in his motion.
“The reason I put in a motion is to make sure we get a complete vetting of information,” Mannix said last week.

"The basic fact is just to make a small dent-- a few percent of the energy demand in the Northeast and virtually nothing in the Southeast-- you would have to develop thousands of miles of ridgeline. You'd be talking about devastating impacts to the mountaintops due to bulldozing and blasting," Luce said.
"The IFA have abandoned rural communities with their unbridled backing for giant wind farms across large tracts of the West and the Midlands. Before it is too late, the IFA should also take the opportunity to revisit its tacit support for selected landowners to sign up secretive contracts with wind farm companies, which are imposing dubious confidentiality clauses and promising the sun, moon and stars in return for land rights and options".

Earlier this month, energy company BP announced its entire renewables division was up for sale. At a recent public meeting on the proposed Cape Vincent Wind Farm, a BP official confirmed the company will push ahead with the development anyway, and local leaders vowed to hire experts to help them fight the project.
Donald Trump has hired one of Scotland's top legal planning experts to lead his court challenge against the Scottish Government's decision to grant the go-ahead to the "monstrous" offshore wind farm planned off the coast of his Aberdeenshire golf resort.

The Maryland Public Service Commission is recommending that Fourmile Wind Energy LLC's request of a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity waiver application be granted. However, it has placed conditions on the Fourmile Ridge wind project, according to a letter to David Collins, executive PSC secretary, from PSC Office of Staff Counsel.
The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) this week released a new proposal to share the "oversupply costs" that pile up when there is not enough demand for all the electricity produced by hydroelectric dams and wind-power producers.
During these oversupply periods, when wind-power producers may be asked to shut down, the plan would compensate them for lost revenue, according to Doug Johnson, a BPA spokesman.
"New Era initiated discussion with NSP (Xcel Energy that was going to buy the wind power) to assign its power contracts to a third-party wind project developer and site," he wrote in a letter dated Wednesday. Three companies are interested and could get turbines turning this year or 2014. "Each of these projects is sited in a community that is far more receptive to wind energy than is Goodhue," he wrote.
Panel to begin deciding on whether to recommend wind farm changes

April 18, 2013 by Tracy Moss in The News-Gazette
The nine-member panel will be weighing public comments made during Monday night's public hearing in Potomac, which was scheduled by county officials in response to several citizens calling for changes to the county's ordinance, especially increasing the distance a wind turbine can be built from houses and other structures.
Having the power to withhold special tax incentives would, in effect, make a wind farm project much less attractive to energy companies, and would provide the county with more clout in bargaining with utilities seeking to locate wind turbines in Van Wert County.

Parks Canada says it's conducting a technical assessment of the power grid to determine the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach to generating energy on the 40-kilometre island.
Julie Tompa, project manager for the Sable Island National Park Reserve, said it's possible the turbines could be scrapped, depending on the results of that assessment.

A large group with plenty of opinions on both sides of Vermilion County's wind turbine issue turned out Monday night for a public forum.
The crowd of both onlookers and speakers filled the expanse of bleachers along the southern wall of the gymnasium at Potomac Grade School. More than 40 speakers - 37 from Vermilion County - signed up to step to the podium.

Matt Putman, of Neighbors for a Responsible North East, said the proposed setbacks are insufficient and are less than some turbine manufacturers recommend. Turbines should be at least 1,300 feet from roads and property lines and more than a mile from any neighborhood to reduce potential noise and "shadow flicker," he said.

While the zoning board voted on findings last week, the wind farm's attorney, Doug Lee, and company officials sat silently. So did opponents.
Today, Keith Bolin of Mainstream and Rick Porter, a Rockford attorney representing wind farm opponents, are on the agenda.
