A reward is being offered for vandalism of wind turbines at Mason County's Lake Winds Energy Park, the Ludington Daily News is reporting.
Details of the vandalism wasn't immediately known.

For now, wind power will stay out of Reading Township.
That was the decision of residents of Reading, a township 11 miles southwest of Hillsdale, in a referendum on Feb. 26, the vote followed a long, fierce debate over Duke Energy's proposed Hillsdale Windpower Project.

Now the two wind districts have been approved, additional approval will be needed, as the creation of a wind district is just the first step in the lengthy process of creating a wind development, and additional approval is needed in order for a development to be constructed.

Proposal 3 would enshrine in Michigan's Constitution a requirement that a full 25 percent of Michigan's electricity be produced by "clean, renewable electric energy sources." Such sources could include wind energy, solar energy, hydroelectric power and biomass fuels.

The popularity of alternative energy will be tested Tuesday in West Michigan when voters in Oceana County's Elbridge Township decide whether to permit construction of a $120 million commercial wind farm.
John Deere Wind Energy and Michigan Wind LLC of Big Rapids want to erect 30 wind turbines ...The township board in August approved a zoning ordinance change that allowed the project to proceed. But township resident Don Wierenga launched a successful petition drive to put a referendum on the issue before all township voters.
