LEMPSTER — A number of local taxpayers who signed a petition last month asking the state to review a windmill project proposed for Lempster Mountain have asked to have their names stricken.
The developers of the Melancthon Wind Project agree with opponents when they say residents should get the straight facts about wind generation.
CONTROVERSIAL plans for a windfarm development in the scenic Ochil Hills, knocked back by Perth and Kinross Council last autumn, are to be re-submitted next month.
But although the number of turbines will remain the same, they will be relocated and will be on shorter towers to minimise the visual impact, one of the authority’s key reasons for rejection.

TWO wind farms worth a total of $550 million have been shelved and another worth $250 million is at risk because of a lack of support from the Federal Government, a developer says.
The shelving of two windfarm projects was a commercial decision and could not be blamed on federal government spending policies, Environment Minister Ian Campbell said on Friday.
