A wind turbine at a school in Flackwell Heath has been repaired after part of it fell off into the school playground.
A panel - about the size of a dustbin cover - fell off the back of the turbine at Carrington Junior School and the whole structure had to be taken down and repaired over the summer. ...Photographs and an anonymous letter were recieved by the Bucks Free Press saying: "If this can happen, the turbine is a danger and should not be installed anywhere near our children."

During an evidentiary hearing Wednesday, Fayette County Judge Steve Leskinen heard arguments concerning eight proposed wind turbines the county's zoning hearing board rejected in June, including concerns about public safety.
The towers, which are owned by Oregon-based Iberdrola Renewables, formerly known as PPM Atlantic Renewables are 262.5 feet tall and 12.5 feet higher than allowed under the zoning ordinance.

The first major UK hydro project to be completed in 50 years, Glendoe was closed less than two months after the Queen officially opened the 100-megawatt station at the end of June.
Yesterday, Perth-based SSE said investigations showed that the rock fall, in a tunnel carrying water between the reservoir and the power station, was "very substantial". ...SSE also confirmed the Greater Gabbard wind farm in the Thames Estuary had been hit after faulty welding was discovered on the turbines.

38 Buckeye Wind turbine sites ruled potentially hazardous

The Federal Aviation Administration recently informed Buckeye Wind, LLC. that its study found 38 of the 70 proposed turbine building sites in Champaign County exceed obstruction standards and could be a hazard to air navigation near Grimes Field.
FAA guidelines generally restrict objects taller than 200 feet within five nautical miles, approximately 5.75 standard miles, of an airport that size.

The German army has identified a series of wind park projects as a threat to national security and blocked investments worth 1.5 billion euros because it fears spinning wind turbines will interfere with its radar systems.
The Bundeswehr has launched an investigation into the impact of the wind turbines planned for northern Germany's coastal area amid concerns they could compromise air defense -- because they could in theory provide a shield for enemy aircraft.

An injured worker from the wind farms off Clacton has been taken to hospital after falling through a hatch on a tug boat.
The 24-year-old German man was hurt while working aboard the vessel Arion which transports equipment out to the wind farms.

Work will get under way this week to repair a wind turbine damaged by a fire last month at the Kent Hills wind farm in Albert County, roughly 30 km southwest of Moncton.
One of the 32 wind turbines at the site caught fire on the morning of Aug. 8, and it's been offline since.

State police closed a portion of Route 3, from Bolton Road to Benton Road, for about three hours Wednesday after the base of a wind turbine and the trailer it was attached to became unlatched from the rig hauling the oversized load. Both the trailer and turbine overturned and rolled into a nearby cornfield, state police said.

A man has died in an accident while carrying out maintenance at a wind farm today. It is understood the man was working high up on one of the turbines but did not fall.
Police were called at around 9.15am to the Causeymire Wind Farm, south of Spittal, near the A9 in Caithness.

When students pull into the Perkins High School parking lot today, they'll see three wind turbines in front of them, fully assembled for the first time since February.
But the blades aren't turning yet, and Perkins Schools superintendent Jim Gunner said the school will proceed cautiously in getting the system back up to full capacity.
The original 6-meter blades, some of which blew off during an especially windy day in February, are gone.

A 60-year-old student succumbed Friday after losing conscousness during a wind turbine climb with his classmates at the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College Friday morning.

Controversial plans to build a wind farm near Aberford have been blown away by councillors.
The city council's east plans panel has turned down a developer's proposal to put five 125m-tall wind turbines in the green belt on Hook Moor just north of Micklefield.
A council report said the application was refused because it would adversely impact on the Precision Approach Radar at RAF Church Fenton and impact upon the Primary Surveillance Radar at RAF Linton on Ouse.
