AGL Energy (AGL) this week announced that an independent noise compliance assessment on the wind turbines by the AECOM company had shown the farm was operating within the noise limits set down in its planning permit.
However, Annie Gardner said residents who lived near the turbines could still not sleep at night.

In a statement, Independent Senator Nick Xenophon says the project will become a "white elephant that will be embroiled in litigation."

West Wind, Meridian's wind farm near Wellington, was opened by the Prime Minister in April. Since then, the company's been dealing with complaints from people living in the Makara Valley.
Neighbours of the wind farm say they were told by Meridian that they wouldn't hear the turbines, but the locals say they hear them most days and most nights and it's constant torture.

Makara residents are lodging about 100 complaints a month over a Meridian Energy wind farm, leading the company to look at ways to make the turbines quieter.
The energy giant monitors noise levels at four sites at the West Wind farm, and is subject to stringent resource consent rules.
That data is also analysed by Wellington City Council. Compliance manager Matthew Borich said the council would not be able to say with certainty until next year whether the project was breaking any restrictions.

The Environment Court has ruled in favour of Maori spiritual values over an energy company's bid to erect dozens of wind turbines on a Hawke's Bay mountain range.
The court said the 37 turbines would go against Maori spiritual values, including the site's history, water and sacred areas.
Judge Craig Thompson said it was impossible not to absorb some of the depth of emotion expressed about the attachment of people to the area.
Such rulings have in the past been subject to ridicule from business developers and politicians.

Mighty River Power is opposing a proposed noise limit for the Turitea Wind Farm near Palmerston North, despite two of its experts signing up.
If the experts get their way, people who live in quiet areas near the proposed wind farm will benefit from a noise limit of 35 decibels or 5dBA above the background sound level, whichever is greater.

Planning commissioners have given approval for the construction of Meridian Energy's Mill Creek wind farm west of Wellington - but with 29 wind turbines instead of the 31 proposed by Meridian.
The visual impact of two of the 111-metre tall turbines, at the southern end of the site, on nearby farms and properties was the principal reason why the commissioners turned them down.
The 200-page decision report by independent commissioners David Hill (Chair), David McMahon and Pamela Peters has been released today.

"We want to get on with our lives but until we know whether the wind farm is going in, there's no point putting money and work in to improve our properties because it could become worthless. ..."The last time the company was in contact with the community was in 2005. We've picked up bits and pieces from the radio but when we send them registered letters asking for more information, we are ignored."

The potential health impacts of living near wind turbines will be the subject of further investigation by a New South Wales Parliament inquiry into rural wind farms.
Two further hearing days begin today at State Parliament to explore issues raised during regional hearings at Tamworth and Goulburn.
Australian Environment Foundation (AEF) executive director Max Rheese predicted there would be more rallies across the state, including near Hamilton, which protest wind farm projects such as the one held near Daylesford yesterday.
