Building 14 giant turbines around a small East Yorkshire village would be "ludicrous" according to local people.
Two wind farm companies plan to build the turbines at Spaldington, near Goole, which would be over three times higher than nearby Howden Minster. ...Residents held a public meeting last night but admit they feel powerless in the Government's rush to meet EU targets.

The Conservatives' Shadow Local Government Minister has told Holderness protestors he will change the rules to give local people more say on planning applications such as wind farms.
Bob Neill MP came to the area at the invitation of Graham Stuart MP in response to complaints from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and local people that the powers of decision have been removed from local people by the Government.

BP is expanding its wind power electricity generation capacity in the United States but is shedding an Indian unit, which has been sold to Green Infra Limited of India.
BP said Green Infra Limited purchased its subsidiary, BP Energy India Private Limited, for a total cash-free, debt-free enterprise value of about $95 million.

Free satellite dishes have been offered to an entire village next to a windfarm because the turbines are disrupting their television viewing. Villagers in Gransmoor started experiencing problems with their television signal shortly after 12 windturbines, which stand 125 metres tall including their blades, were put up at Lissett Airfield.
Novera Energy informed villagers before the development they could experience some disruption to the signal and that the firm was happy to install a Free-Sat System to every household experiencing problems.

A spate of windfarms planned for Dava Moor could become an attraction in their own right, developers behind one of the controversial proposals have hinted.
The claim has been made by Dutch-owned windfarm firm Infinergy, who along with Cawdor Estate are behind proposals for the 17-turbine farm at Tom nan Clach.
It comes in response to strong criticisms aired at a meeting organised in Carrbridge Village Hall on Wednesday evening by the village's community council to discuss the proposed development.

A man has died in an accident while carrying out maintenance at a wind farm today. It is understood the man was working high up on one of the turbines but did not fall.
Police were called at around 9.15am to the Causeymire Wind Farm, south of Spittal, near the A9 in Caithness.

Jane Davis and her husband Julian from Deeping, St Nicholas live less than 1,000 metres from a huge wind farm that was built three years ago.
The couple say the noise from the eight 330 ft (100m) turbines keeps them awake at night and has forced them to move into rented accommodation.
In an effort to have the turbines switched off at night or even taken down altogether the couple are planning to take the developers, landowners and operators to the High Court.

Residents living near a new wind turbine say it sounds like a 'steam train' day and night.
The windmill sited at Intec (UK) Ltd on Penrod Way, Heysham, has only recently been turned on to full capacity and then it became apparent that the noise for neighbouring properties was, according to residents, 'torture'. ..."The company's management arranged for the installers to make adjustments ...It was hoped that that this may have reduced the problem, but residents so far do not find this to be the case.

Plans to build wind turbines next to two villages look set to be given the go-ahead after planning officers recommended that permission be granted.
The controversial plans to build two 125m-tall turbines on land between Seamer and Hilton, near Stokesley, in North Yorkshire, were revised by developers after they were initially rejected by Hambleton District Council in November 2008.

Residents of a medieval hamlet are hoping councillors will help them fight a controversial wind farm plan next week.
On Wednesday Durham County Council cabinet members will be asked to designate Bolam as a Conservation Area.
Their plan could see the council forced to go up against energy company nPower Renewables, who want to build six wind turbines just outside Bolam, near West Auckland.

Christopher Moran, a self-made financier from London with links to the Conservative Party, owns the 40,000-acre Glenfiddich and Cabrach estate on Speyside, south of Dufftown. A plan to build 59 wind turbines on the estate is due to be considered by Moray Council at the end of this month.
Moran has been reprimanded for business misconduct in the past, and his estate has one of the worst records for wildlife crime in Scotland. Yet now he stands to make more than £20m from the wind farm over the next 25 years.

An energy company has admitted precious Red Kites are at significant risk from its planned new wind farm complex in South Wales.
