At least one in six of the 255 wind farms in Britain have received noise complaints according to figures obtained by the Daily Telegraph.
But local authorities have never managed to prosecute on the grounds of noise nuisance because it is so difficult to prove.
The main problem is the intermittent nature of noise from wind farms that makes it difficult to measure.
Wind energy developer Enertrag hosted a public exhibition on Wednesday on its plans to build three 140m high turbines at Tivetshall St Mary. ...Enertrag said it was pleased with a turnout of about 80 local people and said they received a mix of views.
Visitor and Tivetshall St Mary villager Ian Henson, who is a member of the Tivetshall Action Group, opposing the development, said: "I would still be concerned about the health issues, being so close to residential properties.

A campaign group's spending could top £100,000 after they announced they will go to the High Court to challenge the Bradwell wind farm development.
Battle (Bradwell and Tillingham Tackling Lost Environment) have already fought two planning applications, two public inquiries and sought Judicial Review in a five-year fight against the wind farm.
The government's nuclear plans are opposed by some environmental groups as being too costly.
But analysis by Parsons Brinckerhoff, a company backing plans for an offshore wind grid, estimates nuclear generation costs to be 6-8 pence per kilowatt hour (p/KWh), including decommissioning and waste disposal, compared to 15-21 p/KWh for offshore wind.

Villagers in North Yorkshire claim trucks travelling past their homes to get to a construction site are causing structural damage to their properties.

Scotland's much-vaunted network of wind turbines was barely producing enough electricity to boil 1,000 kettles at times this week.
On occasions the total output was a meagre 3MW (megawatts) - the equivalent of a single turbine working at normal speed.
The reason was simply a lack of wind, due to the massive area of high pressure sitting over much of Britain for the past few weeks.

Government plans to generate one third of Britain's electricity from giant offshore wind parks by 2020 could be scrapped because of the vast costs involved, according to the head of Britain's biggest utility company, as well as a key investor.
Sam Laidlaw, chief executive of Centrica, the owner of British Gas, said it was unclear whether the scheme to build an estimated 10,000 wind turbines across swaths of the North and Irish seas would ever go ahead.
