TRAVERSE CITY — Some of his neighbors on Old Mission Peninsula may not like the idea, but State Rep. Howard Walker continues his push to bring windmills to Michigan by overriding local zoning.
GAINESVILLE, Texas — While residents to the east are rallying to stop a large tollway from affecting property values, among other factors, in western Cooke County there’s a struggle of another kind.
A movement has begun to oppose a project by Florida Power and Light Co. to establish a long line of wind generators from west of Moss Lake through Muenster and Saint Jo.

BUCKSPORT - Councilors this week will consider whether to investigate the potential for wind power on town-owned property near the industrial park off Route 46 that could reduce energy costs for businesses in the park and, potentially, for the town's schools.
It’s the question Town of Perry lawmakers had to face Monday night, should 60 giant wind turbines be set up in that Wyoming County town?
More than 20 alternatives were evaluated. All but three were eliminated from more detailed consideration in the EIS because they didn't meet certain criteria, said Kathleen Johnson, DEQ environmental impact specialist.
Those criteria include failure to generate the needed 250 megawatts of power, cost, reliability and environmental shortcomings.

The action comes a year after Supervisor Judy Mikels asked for a study based on concerns that arose in Kern County over proposals for wind generation farms rising hundreds of feet into the air. Not only did the height of the wind turbines threaten the air space, but the devices could also interfere with pilots' radio frequencies, planning officials said.
