BENSON (AP) -- A plan to bring a 79-turbine wind farm to central Illinois has hit a roadblock over accident liability issues.
Three Woodford County townships -- Greene, Panola and Clayton -- have rejected a proposal from Navitas Energy.
And project developer Wanda Davies says that's left the company looking at other Illinois locations for its $260 million wind farm, which had been proposed for a site near Benson.
The county board had planned to vote on the permits needed for the project, but administrator Greg Jackson says it can't grant them without the townships' consent.
Jackson says the outlook for the project isn't good, and that will hurt school districts who had hoped to benefit from the new property tax revenue the wind farm would have brought in.
