BAE looks set to get the go-ahead for a wind turbine at Barrow shipyard.
The defence giant says the turbine will be used to power items like lights, heaters and computers in the main reception foyer.
BAE’s application for the device — 12 metres high to blade tip — is due to be considered by Barrow Borough Council bosses on Tuesday.
Planning officials are urging them to approve the proposal.
Phil Huck, council assistant regeneration director, said: “The turbine will help to reduce the complex reliance upon non-renewable sources of energy, albeit by a small amount, without causing significant harm to the amenities of nearby residents.”
Mr Huck reports that wind turbines have come under increased scrutiny over their impact on the landscape.
