Iowa Winds Begins Permitting Process
Iowa Winds, based in Iowa Falls is gearing up to enter the next stage of the engineering process of a 200 to 300 mega watt wind energy farm in southern Franklin County. Iowa Winds has been working closely with county supervisors and zoning officials in preparation of filling conditional use permits with the Franklin County Zoning Board. Conditional use permits will allow for the final positioning of the turbines.

Iowa Winds has been conducting meterological studies in southern Franklin County since 2002. The studies have produced promising results for the construction of a wind farm. Land owners in the project area have been an integral part in the wind farm development. One-hundred-ninety-three landowners in Franklin County have expressed interest in being a part of the wind farm, and subsequently have signed up over 40,000 acres under wind farm option agreements with Iowa Winds.
The Franklin County Wind Farm will bring great benefits to landowners and Franklin County residents alike. Iowa Winds is excited to bring an additional renewable energy project to central Iowa.
