With gas prices about to jump another 20-30 cents a gallon and the Democratic primary just six weeks away, another Democratic gubernatorial candidate is making the Cape Wind project a key issue in his statewide campaign.
That leaves only former Democratic front-runner Tom Reilly, Independent Chris Mihos and Republican Kerry Healey not in favor of a renewable energy project which has captured the American consumer's mind.
Ironically Gabrieli made his announcement on the same day that the Alaskan pipeline was closed by British Petroleum due to corrosion. BP supplies 20% of America's oil.
Chris Gabrieli is a Boston venture capitalist who was the Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor four years ago.
His television ad endorsing the contentious Nantucket Sound Cape Wind farm project can be seen here.
While Gabrieli had previously expressed conditional support for the plan, he is now unequivocal in his support for Cape Wind in this 30-second spot that began running on Boston and Springfield television stations yesterday.
