Approval sought to build 15-20 wind turbines - Others could be built in southern Brown County
TOWN OF WRIGHTSTOWN — A representative of Invenergy LLC told the town of Wrightstown Plan Commission Wednesday that it wants to put up high-tech wind turbines to generate electricity in five towns in rural southern Brown County.

The commission was discussing the enactment of a new zoning ordinance to regulate wind energy facilities.
Bill Blackmore told the commission his business wants to build 15-20 windmills in the town of Wrightstown.
Others would be constructed in the towns of Holland, Morrison, Rockland and Glenmore. All would be built on the ledge formed by the Niagara Escarpment.
For competitive reasons, Blackmore would not say how much his business would pay farmers for allowing Invenergy to construct the windmills on their property — but he gave $4,000 to $5,000 per windmill per year as a "ballpark figure."
