Record Response to Wind Farm Plan
More than half the 2,000 comments received about controversial plans for six 100m-plus high turbines at Wellow are against a wind farm.

More letters and e-mails have been generated by the scheme than any other planning application on the Island.
The IW Council was swamped by more than 2,000 representations by the time Friday's deadline for public comment was reached. So much correspondence was generated that three members of staff were taken off other duties purely to deal with it.
Nearly half the letters and e-mails came in the week leading up to the deadline, contributing to so many that the website was quickly choked.
