Wind turbine project gets extension
Construction on more than a dozen wind turbines has not started in Cattaraugus County due to a lack of federal dollars and a lawsuit by residents. The town of Allegany is giving the company some time to sort out the problems.

ALLEGANY, N.Y. - The Town of Allegany planning board approved an extension Monday on a special use permit for Ever Power Wind Holdings.
The New York City based company wants to build 29 wind turbines in the town. They were slated to start construction at the end of 2011, but a non-renewal in federal tax credits, along with a lawsuit by the Concerned Citizens of Cattaraugus County, has prevented that.
