The State Government approved the wind farm near Wilson's Promontory, despite strong objections from locals.
After a two-year study, the Federal Government banned the wind farm to protect the orange-bellied parrot.
The State Government and generation company Windpower are challenging the ban in the Federal Court.
The case is scheduled to start on August 28 before Justice Weinberg.
