ORONO -- There was no middle ground for the people who attended a public meeting Tuesday evening on wind farms proposed for Clarington.
A small group in support of wind energy in Clarington stood on the steps of the Orono Town Hall before the meeting, well away from those opposed to the plans, who sat on benches outside the hall.
"I hope they plant them as thick as apple trees," said Harvey Robinson. "We're going to get away from all the coal fire plants."
When the meeting began, those in support of wind turbines and those who hadn't made up their minds yet went in to review the information and talk with representatives of the wind farm company.
A group called Clarington Wind Concerns, which has grown to almost 80 members, waited outside for more people to arrive. They all had similar concerns, about health impacts, the 550-metre setbacks and lower property values,... [continue via Web link]
