Wind farms run 'out of puff'
UPPER Lachlan Shire councillor, John Coombs, told Thursday's ordinary meeting in Gunning he believed the wind farm issue was "now dead".

He was commenting after council's director of environment and planning Richard Davies said he had just received advice from the State Planning Office that advertising for community consultation on the Cullerin wind farm was expected for publication next month.
Mr Coombs said the financial window had now closed for wind farms as the government guaranteed renewable energy tax credits would be running out in 2020.
"Wind farm developers need 20 years to recoup their investment and even if a farm is authorised now, it would take two years to build and begin generating," he said.
