Mahanoy Twp. ordinances OK'd for wind, solar farm placement
The Mahanoy Township supervisors on Thursday approved two ordinances regarding the creation of wind and solar farms within the township.
The ordinances state that plans for wind turbines or solar panels must be reviewed by the township planning commission before they can be permitted in the township.

MAHANOY CITY - The Mahanoy Township supervisors on Thursday approved two ordinances regarding the creation of wind and solar farms within the township.
The ordinances state that plans for wind turbines or solar panels must be reviewed by the township planning commission before they can be permitted in the township.
"We want to put some restrictions on them, but only for safety and nuisance," supervisors Chairwoman Sharon Chiao said. "We are in no way trying to stop anybody from using these sources because it's clean energy."
