In the middle of the year, a board of inquiry considering Contact's application for the 180-turbine wind farm on Waikato's west coast agreed to adjourn the hearing for 12 months at Contact's request. The wind farm would extend along 34 kilometres of coast between Te Akau and Port Waikato.
David Walter on behalf of "outraged land owners" said in an open letter to be read at the meeting today, that Contact had a culture of riding roughshod over the public.
