Brick said he wasn't sure why.
"They didn't come right out and say specifically," he said.
Horizon and the town were at the point of completing the state-mandated environmental survey for the project. Finishing the State Environmental Quality Review would have cost Horizon about $100,000, to cover the cost of the company and town's consultants, Brick said.
Horizon decided to "indefinitely suspend the SEQR process," Brick said.
Brick said he was informed of Horizon's decision this week by phone and e-mail. The announcement on the suspension was made at Wednesday's Town Board meeting.
Asked if this mean the project has been definitely abandoned, Brick said that was not the case.
"We kind of agreed it's gone to sleep for awhile," he said.
Horizon's Dairy Hills Wind Project in the towns of Perry and Covington was first proposed about four years ago. Brick said his Town Board tried to come up with a compromise that would be acceptable to those in favor and those opposed to the windmill farm.
"This one was going at a snail's pace," he said of the project.
