The Member for Burrinjuck, Katrina Hodgkinson, says valuable lessons need to be learnt from past mistakes in installing rural wind farms, to ensure they are not repeated.
A number of community organisation have given evidence at a parliamentary inquiry into rural wind farms, sitting in Goulburn yesterday.
Ms Hodgkinson says there are at least 11 industrial wind farm developments in her electorate, totalling more than 500 turbines.
She says in some cases they have proven to be very divisive.
"I think companies can do it well or they can do it badly and I guess one of the examples of them doing it really badly was in Taralga, where you had a community that was very tight-knit which became very, very divided," she said.
