A campaign group has said plans for eight turbines near a small village could lead to a "scar on the landscape."
The comments were made by John Temple, co-ordinator of new pressure group Protect Winwick which has been set up by residents to oppose proposals from energy company E.on to put up eight 126-metre high turbines near to the small village.
A report outlining the project's feasibility has been submitted by the company to Daventry District Council (DDC) but the plans for the turbines are in the very early stages.
Mr Temple, co-ordinator for Protect Winwick, who lives in the village, said: "If the turbines were to go ahead then they would leave an intrusive scar on the landscape.
"If people were to see these turbines from a distance then they would probably not make much of an impact, but it would be very different if you lived near them."
He also believed there were a number of people unaware of the plans for development.
Mr Temple added: "I would suggest there was not a lot of knowledge when the turbines were first proposed and that people were not aware of how it was going to affect them.
"It says a lot that the turbines will be almost as tall as the Express Lift Tower in Northampton.
"There has been a lot of very good research from people outlining health concerns about the turbines being situated this close to houses.
E-on has said there is still a long way to go before a planning application is submitted to DDC but believes the area would be suitable for development.
A spokesman for the company said: "We have been looking around for the most suitable sites and the ones which will cause the least impact.
"We are very aware that we have got to work with our neighbours, should we be successful in getting this application.
"The technology of wind turbines has come a long way and a consistent source of power can be provided by building the turbines in land."
