A new analysis from the Association of Danish Industry (DI) among its member companies in the energy sector shows that green energy producers are planning further lay offs this autumn.

Green energy producers said they expected a large reduction in employee numbers over the next few months, more so than in other industries.

‘The energy industry expects to let go of trained workers, people with higher education and administrative personnel,' concluded the DI analysis.
The warning comes as Denmark's second largest wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Wind Power announced 80 lay offs.

The Brande-based company confirmed the staff reduction but said it was part of the 400 redundancies announced in February.

Siemens spokeswoman Tanja Thorsteinsson said the 80 employees were being let go now because the windmill industry was showing no signs of improvement.

Figures from the wind energy industry show that in the first six months this year, up to 2400 people have been laid off. However, this followed an extensive hiring period in 2008 when around 13 new employees were hired every day.
