Villagers launch storm of protest over 'ludicrous' wind farm plans

BuildingĀ 14 giant turbines around a small East Yorkshire village would be "ludicrous" according to local people.
Two wind farm companies plan to build the turbines at Spaldington, near Goole, which would be over three times higher than nearby Howden Minster.
One of the companies, Coriolis Energy and Falck Renewables, had been planning to build six turbines 136m (446ft) high at Spaldington Airfield, which would have been the highest in the country, but say they have now dropped the height to 126m (413ft), for "environmental" reasons.
