Brothers’ wind farm idea hits snag
INDIANTOWN TOWNSHIP — Todd Sears is by most accounts a typical Bureau County farmer. He grows corn and soybeans on about 1,200 acres in Indiantown Township a few miles west of Tiskilwa, and he raises beef cattle.

But if all goes according to plan, Sears and his brother Matt Kauffman will soon be able to harvest a more lucrative crop: the wind.
Last year, Sears and Kauffman, along with their wives, formed a corporation called AgriWind LLC, and were able to get financial backing to start the process of developing their own wind farm on property owned by their parents, as well as on leased land in the northwest corner of Indiantown Township, a few miles southwest of Wyanet.
