ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Fire crews expect to have a wildland fire near a Kittitas County wind farm contained by this evening.
The 4-acre fire was reported early this morning in the Park Creek area north of the Wild Horse Wind Farm.
"They have knocked it down, and will have a line around it" by 6 p.m., state Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Debbie Robinson said early this afternoon.
She said the lack of significant wind has helped the 20-person DNR crew working on the fire. DNR is also using helicopters to drop water on the fire.
The wind farm's headquarters are at 25901 Vantage Highway, east of Ellensburg.
