LINGANĀ - Seven wind turbines in Cape Breton are at a standstill after being damaged by an electrical storm.
Brian Robin, chief operating officer for Confederation Power, said the turbines in Lingan were damaged by a lightning strike shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The lightning hit the substation where the turbines interconnect with the Nova Scotia Power system.
Robin said there was some damage and replacement parts were needed.
He said the turbines were not expected to be back in operation Wednesday.
The turbines, which are operated by Glace Bay Lingan Wind Power Ltd., are a subsidiary of Confederation Power.
The wind farm has a 20-year contract to supply electricity to Nova Scotia Power.
