EUREKA -- A proposal to more than double the setback requirements for wind turbines won't be heard by the Woodford County Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday night.
The Conservation, Planning and Zoning Committee on Tuesday night withdrew its earlier recommendation to increase the setback to 1,800 feet from 750 feet.
Committee Chairman Terry Pille said he was contacted by State's Attorney Michael Stroh on Tuesday about possible confusion with the setback change. The existing ordinance requires setbacks of 750 feet from non-participating dwellings, but only 1.1 times the height of the tower from roads, transmission lines and communications towers, or 330 feet from a 300-foot tower.
Stanley Glazier made a new motion Tuesday, which was approved 3-0 with two abstentions, that the setback be 1,800 feet from dwellings and roads. The earliest the ZBA can hear the new proposal is May 21.
