Wind towers lack needed support
The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, through its Renewable Energy Trust fund, has awarded a total of 48 residential and small-business projects a total of $703,000 statewide since 2005. Twenty-four of those projects have been completed ...But an independent audit last spring found that, of the 19 that were up and running, nearly all were performing below levels forecast by installers, with an average power output 40 percent less than expected.

The effort to build residential wind turbines on Cape Cod has stalled, mired in prohibitive town bylaws, misinformation, expensive equipment and a suspended state funding program.
The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, through its Renewable Energy Trust fund, has awarded a total of 48 residential and small-business projects a total of $703,000 statewide since 2005. Twenty-four of those projects have been completed, with $315,000 paid out. The majority have been in Southeastern Massachusetts and the Cape.
