An agreement has been reached between Kurt and Ronda Geldean and the developers of the Walnut Ridge wind farm.

At Tuesday's meeting of the Bureau County Board, Midwest Wind Energy project coordinator Tom Swierczewski said the agreement was reached earlier that day concerning 14 turbines objected to by the Geldeans. The agreement calls for the Geldeans to withdrawal their complaint against the turbines and for Midwest Wind Energy to withdraw plans for the five turbines closest to the Geldeans' airstrip.

The final agreement was a good and reasonable compromise, with all parties losing something, Swierczewski said. The property owners and developers lost potential income from the turbines. The Geldeans are forced to operate their airstrip in a less than ideal condition.
