A truck carrying part of a large wind turbine damaged some girders at the Highway 60 and 65 interchange around ten Friday morning.
It was traveling westbound on Highway 60 and cleared the first overpass on 65. But it hit the southbound bridge because the clearance is slightly lower on that side.
Engineers with MODOT say there is still enough strength to allow cars on the bridge, but the far west lane is closed just as a precaution.
Crews reopened the northbound ramp after some initial repair, but drivers using that interchange still might want to find another route.
MODOT spokesman Bob Edwards said, "You know it's going to be a while and we sure want folks to be patient driving through the 60-65 interchange. I mean more patience than we normally ask."
Westbound to southbound drivers won't have a merge lane until more repairs are made, so MODOT says be extra cautious.
