New wind farm now online
A fourth wind farm is now producing energy in Somerset County.
The 23-turbine Casselman Wind Project, located on a 165-acre site that stretches across Summit, Black and Addison townships, is fully operational and generating 35 megawatts of electricity, said Jan Johnson, spokeswoman for the site's developer, PPM Energy of Oregon.

A fourth wind farm is now producing energy in Somerset County.
The 23-turbine Casselman Wind Project, located on a 165-acre site that stretches across Summit, Black and Addison townships, is fully operational and generating 35 megawatts of electricity, said Jan Johnson, spokeswoman for the site's developer, PPM Energy of Oregon.
"We're pretty much meeting the energy needs of 10,000 homes," Johnson said.
It is the largest of any of the county's wind farms, with three more turbines than the Meyersdale Wind Power Project. Most of the windmills are located along Rockdale Road and eight have been built on a reclaimed strip mine,... [continue via Web link]
