But one thing everyone agrees on is that the wind turbines being built in the towns of Clinton and Ellenburg are controversial.
"Some people felt they didn't want the turbines erected in the town. And you know, they had their reasons," said Dick Decosse, owner of Dick's Country Store. "They didn't want to see the town change, or they didn't think it was a change for the better in their opinion."
But local business owners say so far the turbine construction has had a positive impact.
More than 250 workers are in the area daily, so places like Dick's Country Store are seeing an increase in customers.
"These new people coming in is just a straight increase in business. I mean they're purchasing sodas, lunches etc," said Decosse.
Even though the turbines are already being built, many local residents say they're still disappointed. And they're going to continue to fight against them.
"These are the height of 40-story buildings. And if I wanted to live around 40-story buildings, then I might as well move to the city," said Larry LaClair.
Some residents are furious that the landscape that they have known and loved will soon be gone.
"The skies are beautiful. You'll get the northern lights and you don't have all these flashing lights around. And now with the substation going in, the light off that at night, I'm going to need curtains in the house!" said LaClair
But the project is a go and eventually about 120 turbines will be in place to the delight or dismay of local residents.
