Electric grid interconnection request activity
(Posted October 28, 2007)An analysis of grid interconnection requests within U.S. portions of North America reveals that proposed wind energy development as of October 2007 totals up to 164,900 MW. This information, based on data compiled within the last two months, is regionally distributed as follows (rounded to the nearest 100 MW):
New England (NE ISO): 2,100 MW
New York (NY ISO): 6,800 MW
Mid-Atlantic region (PJM): 24,500 MW (includes northern IN and IL)
Mid-West region (MISO): 65,500 MW
Texas (ERCOT): 35,500 MW (most of TX)
Southcentral region (SPP): 19,300 MW (mostly comprised of KS and OK, but also TX panhandle)
Western region (WECC): 11,200 MW (entire western US)
